Fiddlers Green Festival is delighted to welcome The Henry Girls, the immensely talented sister trio from the northernmost part of County Donegal. Karen, Lorna, and Joleen McLaughlin blend Irish folk roots with a transatlantic flavour, creating a rich musical tapestry that has earned them critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.
Since forming professionally in 2001, the trio has recorded multiple studio albums and EPs, and their music—described as “full-bodied and powerfully dynamic” by fRoots Magazine—has graced major festivals including Celtic Connections and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival. Their harmonies are seamless, their musicianship exceptional, and their performances deeply moving.
Their latest release, A Time to Grow (2024), was named Album of the Week by RTÉ Radio 1 and showcases their evolution as artists—blending emotional maturity with musical innovation. The sisters’ artistry extends beyond the stage too, having composed for theatre, dance, children’s shows, and film, including the IFTA-nominated score for the Irish-Canadian film A Shine of Rainbows.
Whether performing their own original material or reimagining classics like those of The Boswell Sisters (captured in their 2020 live album), The Henry Girls bring a fresh yet timeless energy to every performance. Their deep cultural heritage and close family bond shine through every note.
